British Yahoo will introduce a new way of targeting advertising
Search Yahoo! launched in the UK a new system of Ad Choices, which will enable visitors to company websites to get information about how their personal data is used to produce more targeted advertising. It is reported by British newspaper «The Financial Times».
On the pages of services Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger, for a user logs on who should be registered, will "pop up" ads with a specific icon. Clicking on it, any registered user can learn about what the company has posted on the Internet or that advertising, as well as why it is on this page advertisement appeared. In addition, users can also go through the related links to adjust the existing settings with personal data about advertising preferences.
A similar service, Yahoo! for over a year of active use in the U.S.. According to the company, a visual icon reminds all users that contained the data they need are taken into account, and in addition allows them to exercise control over this information.
According to the newspaper, the initiative «Yahoo!» sparked interest in the processing of personal data of users, as well as their collection and sale, observed by the U.S. and European regulators.
